“The French Orchestra” by Oscar Hunt, Jade Folawiyo & Chris Glaister
On May 6th 2011 Hendzel + Hunt held their first ever “24hr Design Challenge”. Based on an experimental approach to their MADE IN PECKHAM range.

Chronos Chromos Concrete – Color Changing Concrete
Chronos Chromos Concrete is a system able to dynamically display patterns, numbers and text in concrete surfaces. Applications span products for the home through to large scale architectural installations. Winner of the Cement Creativity Awards 2003, the project was subsequently taken on by Innovation RCA, based at the Royal College of Art in London, for further development.
Subsequently, Tomas Heatherwick chose a one off piece for his Conran Foundation Collection at London’s Design Museum in 2004 where it was displayed amongst a thousand other ingenious inventions which had caught his eye. In 2005, a proposal for an interactive public square won 1st prize in the Robustness in Design Competition coming in ahead of many international entrants.

O2 Technology in Textiles Competition.
Working with textiles designer Michelle Shakallis, we developed technology to allow ring tones to coded into garments as prints or knit, and be read with the camera’s camera. The concept was aimed at bringing customers into O2’s high street stores by realizing a ring tone as a tangible product.

Olson Digital Camera
Cheap digital cameras have dramatically changed the way we think about photos; especially at social events. Since photos are now free to take, instant to review and simple to delete, cameras often become distractions. The Olson camera was developed to buck this trend. Capable of autonomously capturing images over periods of minutes or hours Olson frees the hands and mind of the user to enjoy themselves at social events.
Once activated Olson can be left alone to snap away. By interpreting inputs from 4 directional microphones it silently pans and tilt the camera lens towards interesting moments. The images are processed internally into 3D arrangements intended to capture the whole atmosphere of the event.
Developed to proof of principle prototype.
